Twitbird Free Update Now Available

I have some good news and bad news to report. First the good news: we were happy to wake up today and see that Twitbird Free has been approved and is available in the App Store as an update. This is a long awaited update and fixes the "logged out or blocked by user" error which many users have been experiencing this month. Upgrade now and get back to using the best Twitter client in the App Store! (yes, we are biased)

The bad news, however, is that Twitbird Pre and Pro have yet to receive approval from Apple. In fact, we've received a message from the App Store indicating that the review team "needs additional time". This is bad news because there's no way to tell how long this could be - it could be hours, days or longer. Since our users have been waiting for an update for more than 10 days now, the situation is dire and we've been doing our best to contact Apple and get the approval expedited. In case anyone is wondering, we submitted updates to all three versions of Twitbird (Pro, Pre & Free) simultaneously - all versions are equally important to us. All three versions are virtually identical so we really don't know why Free would be approved when the paid versions were not. As soon as we know something we'll let you know. Follow us on Twitter to stay updated.

Thanks and take care,

- Twitbird Team

Critical Twitbird Update Imminent

Over the last 10 days, we feel like we've aged a few years. If you aren't a Twitbird user or don't know what I'm talking about, let me explain.

On December 2nd a latent bug deep within Twitbird manifested itself. As we scrambled to figure out why thousands of Twitbird users were simultaneously experiencing issues, many possibilities went through our minds. In the end, it turns out that the bug - which users associated with a "User not logged in or blocked" notification - was due to a shortsighted line of code in the app, relating specifically to the unique identification number associated with each tweet that passes through the entire Twitter network (so far there are many billions of them).

We worked around the clock for a day to identify and remedy the issue, but found that the fix required submitting a new version to the App Store. And although we submitted the new version within a day, we've been sitting on our hands for the last 12 days (and counting) while Apple reviews and approves Twitbird for public release.

A key part of this message is to tell you, our users, that we are not stopping development of Twitbird. We have quality features and improvements that we've been developing for months and are anxious to release, despite this significant speed bump. We fully realize the inconvenience that this has created and feel deep regret for not catching this sooner.

Look for this update to land in the App Store any day now. Thanks for your time.

MobileRSS Free : Full Screen AD Disabled

We've put big effort to the latest version of MobileRSS Free V3.2, it has significant improvement.
However, we made a mistake that on the server side, someone in our team set the "Auto-Play-AD" as "On", which caused the problem that some U.S. users will see auto play full screen advertisement. We have fixed this problem on the server side, users should not see any full screen AD anymore. We apology for this mistake and hope you will continue to support MobileRSS Free.

Twitbird Update Now Available

Today the latest version of Twitbird is available for download - we're updated each version of Twitbird to include the features and bugfixes listed below along with download links.

Twitbird 2.7.1 Details:

This is a huge update that we're really excited about releasing! First of all, two great updates to Twitbird:

- Pro and Free versions of Twitbird now both run natively on iPad, and
- Twitbird supports Retina Display for iPhone 4 users

Additionally, many third party services have been going through rough waters since Twitter adopted OAuth. We fixed a number of problems caused by this transition so uploading photos works great now, and we support posting them to Facebook or Flickr now!

For our Global Push users, if you've changed your device or reinstalled Twitbird we now give you the option to restore global push from within Twitbird.

In the options you can now toggle "Read Tweets" on and off in the settings menu. This will have tweets be read aloud to you if you enable it!

For our users who rely on a proxy to access Twitter, you can download our customized "Birdnest" and deploy it on Google App Engine. The API proxy in Twitbird is working again! Download it here.
