Twitbird Attains the #1 Position in Japanese App Store

We're very excited to announce that Twitbird Free has climbed through the ranks to achieve the #1 position in the Japanese App Store for Free Apps. For those who don't know, the Japanese market is extremely important to us and we're incredibly satisfied to see that our localization and development efforts have yielded such fantastic results.

Big thanks to all of our Twitbird users in Japan!

  1. TwitBird became #1 because its previous version stopped working and was _not_ automatically updated (it had to be manually removed and reinstalled). So many people are angry about it in the Japanese App Store reviews. Have you even read them?

  2. The previous version not working was because Twitter switch to OAuth which required an update to Twitbird for it to remain fully functional: http://blog.twitter.com/2010/08/twitter-applications-and-oauth.html

We read every review in the App Store, whether it's in the US or Japan, and absolutely incorporate that feedback into developing Twitbird and the rest of our apps in the App Store.

In MobileRSS, for example, we've gone from a 2-star average to a 4.5 star average in just one version. We're aware that there are bugs to be eliminated and great new features to be added, but I assure you Sumii, that we are attentive to each of our users feedback.

    Thanks for commenting-

  3. No, the problem is not OAuth (everybody knows it) but the failure of automatic update of TwitBird.

  4. Hi Sumii,

Unfortunately there was no course of action to restore Twitbird back to full functionality other than that which we took.

If you have any problems with Twitbird or wish to discuss the issue further, feel free to contact us at service@nibirutech.com

    Have a good day-

  5. For your information, I e-mailed to service@nibirutech.com 12 days ago and have never received any reply. For the record, being free is nice and I appreciate it (I myself develop free software), but telling lies is not a good idea. Thanks anyway for the otherwise great application.

That is odd - we receive 50+ e-mails daily to service@nibirutech.com and respond to each and every one of them. If you forward the message to charlie@nibirutech.com I will handle your issue personally. Sorry for the inconvenience.
